At James River Nurseries, we've believed (from the time we saw the development plans) Readers Branch was going to be a popular and attention grabbing community. Today we can unequivocally say that was true.
How do we know? Because Readers Branch can now proudly proclaim to have the honor of winning the 2019 Community of the Year (100-500 homes) MAME Award.
We'd like to congratulate everyone at Eagle Construction of VA for working hard to bring Readers Branch to life.
Communities like Readers Branch don't just happen. It takes genuine understanding of market demands as well as strategic thought and planning to create home designs, as well as an amenity package, that will be popular with the target buyer.
Designed as an active adult community, homes in Readers Branch offer first floor master bedrooms, open floor plans and a low maintenance exterior. Additionally, amenities will include: a clubhouse, pocket parks, multi-use fields, formal game lawns, and almost 1.5 miles of walking trails. Couple all that with its location (Manakin-Sabot in Goochland County...only minutes from Short Pump) and you can see why Readers Branch has gained so much POSITIVE attention!
The community's success had already been demonstrated through the rapid sales pace. The Community of the Year Award was the icing on the cake. Clearly, their thoughtful and strategic planning has paid off in spades.
Congratulations again, Eagle Construction, you are a leader in your field and make Central Virginia a better place to live by offering residents quality options when it comes to finding a place to call home!
For 43 years, the National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC) has been bringing landscape and horticulture students together with industry manufacturers and suppliers to help launch careers and build long-term relationships. Many students who participate in the event rate it as "one of the highlights of their college careers."
Billed as the largest Career Fair in the industry, this annual three-day event was to take place at Michigan State University in March, but will now be held has a virtual event due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
At James River Nurseries, we understand the impact the NCLC has on the lives of so many horticulture students, and it's gratifying to know they will still be able to participate in this event, albeit in a much different setting.
We'd like to give a shout-out to to those who are making the efforts to ensure these students will have this experience.
The live, virtual event will take place April 7-8 from 1-4pm EST each day.
Here at James River Nurseries, we firmly believe we work for some of the best builders and developers in Central Virginia. The recent announcement of 2019 SMC MAME Award winners solidifies that belief.
The MAME Awards pay tribute to superior sales and marketing achievements by home builders, developers, remodelers, real estate agents and other associate members. We'd like to congratulate all of the winners and give a special shout-out to (and recognize) winners we're proud to call clients.

James River Nurseries recently began landscaping the 5,000 square-foot sales center for Avery Point, a senior housing community located in the Notch at West Creek.
Developed by Erickson Living, this $300 million dollar community will eventually consist of 14 buildings, housing a combination of both independent living apartments as well as assisted living. Once completed, it's estimated Avery Point will have over 2 million square feet of living space as well as an impressive array of amenities and perks including (according to their website): swimming pool, fitness center, theater room, classrooms, concierge, library, dining areas, as well as a full-time maintenance staff.
The first residents are projected to move in sometime in 2022. If you'd like more information on this community, please visit: Avery Point
James River Nurseries is proud to be selected hardscape contractor for the Ashland Train Station renovations.
"Amtrak has contracted with Railroad Construction Company of Paterson, N.J., to advance a series of improvements including the construction of two brick platforms, placement of two mobile lifts and accompanying canopy. Mobile lifts will be placed on each platform and will benefit all customers including passengers with disabilities who use a wheeled mobility device or seniors and travelers with luggage and strollers."
Propelled by a need to meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the design features of this project will enhance the accessibility for all travelers. At James River Nurseries, we take great satisfaction knowing our work will play a role in helping more people enjoy the benefits of traveling by train.
We'd like to thank the folks at Railroad Construction Company, our client on the project, for selecting James River Nurseries to be your hardscape contractor.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by fall of 2020.
