At James River Nurseries, we believe great landscaping doesn’t just serve the present—it shapes the future. That’s why we were proud to partner with Henrico County Government and the H.E.A.R.T. Crew (Henrico’s Environmental Action Resource Team) to support a large-scale reforestation project at Brook Road Neighborhood Park.

As part of this initiative, our team planted 1,150 bare root trees, each protected with Tree Tube King shelters to encourage healthy early growth. These native trees are now taking root in a space that will, over time, become a vital part of Henrico County’s green infrastructure.

A Vision for Generations to Come

This project, led by the amazing team at @stewartheartcrew, is about more than planting trees. It’s about laying the groundwork for a healthier, more resilient natural environment for future generations.

As these trees mature, they’ll deliver long-lasting environmental benefits, including:

🌳 Carbon Sequestration – Helping capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere
🌳 Erosion Control – Stabilizing soil and reducing runoff
🌳 Water Table Support – Improving groundwater absorption
🌳 Wildlife Habitat – Creating homes for birds, insects, and other vital species
🌳 Urban Cooling – Offering essential shade and reducing local heat island effects

This is sustainability in action—and we’re honored to be part of it.

The Power of Partnership

Collaborative efforts like this one are a reminder that landscaping is about more than aesthetics. When done thoughtfully and with long-term vision, it has the power to restore ecosystems, connect communities, and transform the way we interact with the land around us.

We’re thankful to Henrico County and the H.E.A.R.T. Crew for including us in this meaningful work—and we can’t wait to see these trees flourish in the years to come.
