A new chapter is beginning for Bensley Elementary School in Chesterfield County. James River Nurseries is proud to work with Oyster Point Construction to help transform the new campus with trees and thoughtfully designed planting areas.
Originally opened in 1954, Bensley Elementary has served generations of Chesterfield County students. The new campus is designed to support up to 1,000 students while responding to continued growth in the surrounding community.
School construction is about more than buildings. The outdoor environment helps shape the daily experience of students, families, teachers and staff.

Trees can provide increasing shade over time, soften large building and parking areas and create a more welcoming arrival. Planting areas help organize circulation and give the campus a sense of place. Thoughtful grading and drainage support long-term performance through changing seasons.
Because young students will grow alongside the landscape, durable design and appropriate plant selection are especially meaningful.
Institutional projects require coordination among school leaders, designers, general contractors and specialty trades. James River Nurseries brings horticultural knowledge and landscape construction experience to help translate plans into a living campus environment.
We congratulate Chesterfield County Public Schools, Oyster Point Construction and everyone involved in bringing the new Bensley Elementary School to life.
Since 1983, James River Nurseries has helped residential, commercial, institutional and public clients create landscapes that are functional, enduring and rooted in the character of Central Virginia.
