Great landscapes are built by great people. At James River Nurseries, the skill visible in a finished garden, hardscape or commercial installation begins with a team that shows up for one another every day.
Our recent company cookout was a chance to pause, share a meal and celebrate the people behind the work. Eric handled the barbecue, Joanne brought homemade macaroni salad, and Doug and Robbie kept burgers and hot dogs moving for the crew. Nearly everything was homemade and prepared by the JRN team for the JRN team.
That detail says a great deal about the culture we work to build. The day was informal, generous and rooted in the same spirit of collaboration that carries our crews through busy seasons and demanding projects.
Landscape construction depends on coordinated effort. Designers, project managers, equipment operators, horticulture professionals, installation crews, administrative staff and safety leaders each contribute different expertise. A successful project requires those roles to work together from planning through completion.
Our clients see the finished result, but behind it are countless conversations, careful decisions and people willing to support one another when conditions change.

A strong company culture is not separate from quality work. When people feel valued and connected, communication improves, safety stays central and craftsmanship benefits. Taking time to celebrate the team is one way we reinforce that commitment.
We are grateful for the people who make James River Nurseries what it is and proud to call this group a family.
Since 1983, James River Nurseries has helped residential, commercial, institutional and public clients create landscapes that are functional, enduring and rooted in the character of Central Virginia.
