James River Nurseries team members joined the annual CVNLA Workday at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Henrico, Virginia, volunteering alongside TrueTimber Arborists, John Richmond Landscaping, and other members of the Central Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association to help maintain the Garden.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is one of Richmond's most important public spaces — a living museum of more than 50 acres of themed gardens, rotating exhibits, and educational programs that draws over 700,000 visitors a year. Keeping a garden of that scale beautiful takes a small army, and once a year, the Central Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association puts together exactly that — a workday where the Virginia green industry shows up to help.
JRN team members were proud to be part of this year's volunteer crew, working alongside arborists, landscapers, and horticulturists from across the region.
On a normal Tuesday, JRN, TrueTimber Arborists, and John Richmond Landscaping might be three separate companies working on three separate projects. On a CVNLA Workday, they're side by side at Lewis Ginter, swinging chainsaws, hauling debris, mulching beds, and pruning what needs pruning. The Virginia green industry is collaborative by nature, and days like this one are part of why.
Lewis Ginter is more than a place to visit — it is a research partner, an educational resource, a host for the CVNLA Short Course, a habitat for native pollinators, and one of Richmond's most-loved public assets. JRN's team is grateful for the chance to give a day of work back to a place that gives so much to the community year-round.
